Board change

To the editor:

Regarding Mr. Reed’s letter of Aug. 11: Again, the sleeping voters of Kansas awoke and overturned the “conservative” majority of the State Board of Education. We will not slumber again.

The people have spoken; we demand that Commissioner Bob Corkins be replaced with someone who supports and understands public education and has the appropriate credentials to ensure knowledgeable leadership for Kansas schools. The new board also must reverse the fairy tale science standards; that’s why the public saw fit to change the makeup of the board.

The same goes for the “opt in” sex education policy. This is not about money; it’s about quality public education for the children in our state.
