Find some shade and grab a cold drink - sunny skies and standard August heat are on tap today.

"Our temperatures today are going to be just about normal," said Sarah Jones, 6News weather forecaster. "Ninety degrees should be where we top out today."

The average high temperature for this date is 91 degrees. The record high was 109 degrees, set in 1930.

At 6:45 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport's temperature was 64 degrees, the humidity was 90 percent and winds were calm.

The average low temperature for this date is 70 degrees. The record low was 52 degrees, set in 1894.

"There's a slight chance for a shower tomorrow morning," Jones said. "Then there's a lot of sunshine for later on in the day."

Saturday's morning low will be 68 degrees, with Saturday's high climbing to 95 degrees.

Sunday's morning low temperature will be 73 degrees. Sunday's temperatures will warm up to 97 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.
