Suspect in stabbing has court hearing today

Charges are pending against a Lawrence man suspected in a stabbing incident Monday night in the area of 26th Street and Redbud Lane.

Richard J. Tebe, 36, is being held in the Douglas County Jail and is to appear today in court for possible charges. He was being held on suspicion of aggravated battery, domestic battery and failure to appear in court in an earlier case, according to the jail log.

Lawrence Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 9:26 p.m. Monday. Police identified the victim as Michael J. Moore, 43. A hometown wasn’t available. He was flown by air ambulance helicopter to a Kansas City area hospital. His condition was unavailable Tuesday.

Police said the victim was injured after he interjected himself into a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.

The suspect fled the area but later called police and was questioned before being taken to jail.
