Retail battle
To the editor:
I was sad to hear the recent news about our city officials. It seems they gave up their courageous fight against the evil empire.
Sure, I understand that the world’s largest retailer has deep pockets, expensive lawyers and nothing less than all the money in the world to spend on a legal battle. But, perhaps, our local representatives gave up too soon.
Did we just sell out? I don’t think so. As a native Lawrencian, I still believe that we can overcome the evil empires of our world. As a natural born Jayhawker, I believe we can fight against slavery, and win.
Now, the battle is in the hands of those with wallets. We must, as citizens of our world; as those who love our fellow man; as those who hate to see our friends and loved ones mistreated; rise against the evil empire and take back our freedom.
