Mumps cases increase

More Douglas County and Kansas University mumps cases were reported Thursday.

So far this year, the county has 135 confirmed or probable cases, up from 124 reported Wednesday.

Of those cases, 103 involve KU students, up from 96 reported Wednesday, KU spokeswoman Lynn Bretz said.

In Kansas, health departments have reported 286 confirmed or probable cases as of Thursday with 41 others still under investigation, said Sharon Watson, spokeswoman for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Thirty-five counties have had at least one reported case.
