Caring staff

To the editor:

Kudos to Lawrence Memorial Hospital!

The sister of my fiance was losing her battle with breast and bone cancer. For a variety of reasons we moved her from Lee’s Summit, Mo., into my home. She was quite ill, and within a week we had to take her to the emergency room at LMH. She was admitted and passed away three days later.

We were so impressed with the care she received. I was very impressed with the expertise and care shown by the ER staff, especially given she had no doctor in town. I can’t speak highly enough about the third-floor nursing staff, the Palliative Care Team, the doctors and Angela, the chaplain. Her dog was allowed to visit her, a recliner was provided for her brother to spend the night, and the staff did so much to help us.

Most of all, there was an overall attitude that she was a person … as well as a patient. We want to thank the staff and share this positive experience with the community.

Karen Anderson and John Troutman,

Lawrence
