Fair provides information on volunteering

The second annual Volunteer Information Fair will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
The fair, hosted by the Roger Hill Volunteer Center and the library, will feature more than 40 community not-for-profit organizations. Dozens of volunteer coordinators will be on hand to speak about their programs’ needs and how to get involved.

Immediate volunteer needs
¢ The Kansas University Center for Community Outreach will host events through Saturday during its “Into the Streets Week.” Events will include a book drive to benefit Project Bridge, an ESL tutoring program, fundraisers to benefit the Jubilee Cafe homeless breakfast restaurant, Sleepout for Homelessness and the Natural Ties/Best Buddies Prom. ¢ Volunteers are needed for the 2006 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals on May 12-14 in Lawrence. Volunteers will be needed for a variety of positions, including set-up crew, a tear-down crew and road crossing monitors. ¢ The 38th annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraising event will take place on May 5 at Clinton State Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with parking, registration, route and picnic.
