‘Follies’ fundraiser to feature skits, music

Lawrence Schools Foundation’s annual “Follies” fundraiser begins with a 7 p.m. social hour today at Liberty Hall, 642 Mass. The variety show starts at 8 p.m.

Several teachers are expected to share their musical and theatrical talents. Skit topics include the Kansas State Board of Education, Education Commissioner Bob Corkins, evolution, healthy lunches and other hot topics.

Supt. Randy Weseman has agreed to display his guitar-playing prowess.

During intermission, a $1,000 check will be presented to the foundation’s Educator of the Year.

Money raised during the event will support early childhood education, teacher grants, leadership development and student scholarships.

Tickets are $35 per person; $25 for Lawrence school district faculty and staff.
