To the editor:

I enjoyed reading Mr. Brewer’s remarks in Friday’s paper about using state names for streets. I always wondered who or what committee thought of street names in Lawrence. Singing Hills? Mistletoe? Winged-foot? Golden Rain? Four Wheel Drive? They all sound very nice, but a name for a street? There is no longer a Sigma Nu fraternity on Sigma Nu Place, but there is a sorority.

How about streets named for former presidents? Or famous people during the colonial period of the country? Or famous Kansas University athletes? One is named for Bob Billings, who was not only a basketball player, but a wonderful person who did so many things for the city. Let me close with some “street” humor: Why do we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway?
