Provost praise
To the editor:
I would like to jump on the band wagon started by former Dean Mike Hoeflich thanking and admiring Provost David Shulenburger and his wife for the many years of service to Kansas University and the state of Kansas. Professor Hoeflich’s story about the provost planting a tree in his yard in memory of his recently deceased mother was quite moving and is fully consistent with my many interactions with the provost. He is a very rare leader who balances intelligence, vision and compassion.
One of his many positive traits that I greatly admire, especially in a very political job, is his straightforwardness. We can only hope that he returns to KU after his stint in Washington.
