Valencia, boys relay victorious
Wichita ? The Free State High track teams picked up a pair of victories and two solid team finishes Friday at the KT Woodman Relays.
Alysha Valencia won the girls 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 59.18 seconds, part of strong day that also saw her take second in both the 800 and the 1,600.
The Firebirds also had three second-place showings in field events courtesy of long jumper Brooke Carter (16 feet, 51â4 inches), high jumper Emma Brooke (5-2) and javelin thrower Tricia Dunham (124-6), helping Free State finish second in the team standings with 90 points.
The Free State boys 400-meter relay team of Austin Winn, Ryan Murphy, Brian Murphy and Christian Ballard also earned top honors, breaking the tape in 42.62.
Brian Murphy added a runner-up finish in the 200, and Keron Toussaint did the same in the 400 to help the Firebirds finish third with 68.5 points.
