Journal-World editor gives lecture at OSU
Lawrence Journal-World Senior Editor Bill Snead was the 2006 Paul Miller Lecturer last week at the Oklahoma State University School of Journalism and Broadcasting.
Snead spoke to various classes at the school during the week before delivering The Paul Miller lecture along with showing photos last Friday before about 250 attendees.
The Journal-World is one of the country’s leaders in converging news mediums: print, television and online journalism. Snead’s message suggested that students become familiar with all of them.
“We’re always looking for something unique, people who have really made a difference in the business, to give students exposure to those kinds of people,” said Tom Weir, the school’s director.
The late Paul Miller, a 1938 OSU journalism graduate, was one of the major influences on Gannett Co. Inc. and whose centerpiece is now USA Today, the biggest newspaper in the United States. Miller also was chairman of the board of the Associated Press for many years.
