Spangles fans can set their clocks: The Wichita-based chain’s Lawrence restaurant is opening at 6:30 a.m. April 25.

The ’50s-style restaurant – with its signature “Time to Dine” clock already installed above the roof – is planning an all-night tailgating celebration leading up to the official opening at 3420 W. Sixth St., a place formerly home to a Runza restaurant.

The all-night celebration starts at 9 p.m. April 24 with a live performance by a “teenage Elvis,” to be followed by dancing contests, giveaways and other promotions.

Spangles owners Craig and Dale Stevens plan to attended the grand opening. They established their first Spangles in 1978 in Wichita; the Lawrence restaurant – featuring made-to-order hamburgers, pitas, pasta salad and shakes – will be their 22nd.
