Lone Star water-skiing on tonight’s agenda

Douglas County commissioners tonight will consider expanding periods when water-skiing is allowed at Lone Star Lake.

In a letter to commissioners, a group of people have requested that skiing be allowed from noon to 8 p.m. daily. Currently skiing is allowed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and other days as approved by commissioners between June 1 and Labor Day.

Proponents of the change say it would alleviate confusion about skiing times, among other concerns.

Commissioners also will discuss approval of a contract with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for cleanup of illegal dump sites on the Black Jack Battlefield property east of Baldwin.
