Fourth-graders get set for Relays for Kids

More than 600 fourth-graders from Lawrence schools will compete in the second Kansas Relays for Kids on April 21 at the Kansas University campus.

Students from 13 area schools will receive instruction in the 50-meter dash, long jump, Nerf javelin and 400-meter relay. The event coincides with the Kansas Relays, set for April 20-22 at Memorial Stadium.

The children’s instructors will be Katie Hansen, Sarah Gietschier, Nicole Nance, Larry Vu and Karry Klatt. Susan King, associate professor of health, sports and exercise science, will supervise the event.

Organizers expect participation to double from last year.
