The new scoreboard at Ice Field in Holcom Complex will be dedicated at 5 p.m. Tuesday prior to the Lawrence High-Free State high school baseball game.

Funds for the scoreboard, named in honor of the late Gale Armbrister, were raised privately. Armbrister, who coached the Lawrence American Legion Hawks and was involved with several youth sports, died last year.

The ceremony will include a 21-gun salute by the Legion Honor Guard. Armbrister’s sons, Matt and Jay, will throw the honorary first pitch, and his widow, Cheri, will flip the switch to light the scoreboard for the first time.
