Lawrence teacher named to state hall

Ray Wilbur, a longtime Lawrence educator, has been selected for induction in the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame.

His selection will be formally announced this morning during an assembly at Bishop Seabury Academy, 4120 Clinton Parkway.

Wilbur taught mathematics at Lawrence High School for 30 years before retiring in 1995. Since then, he’s taught two math classes a day, without pay, at Bishop Seabury.

LHS seniors voted Wilbur as Teacher of the Year in 1995, 1990, 1986, 1982 and 1976. He was a finalist for the Math Teacher of Kansas Prudential Award in 1983.

The Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame is in Dodge City.
