Lawrence commuter report

The following construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:

Interstate 70, from the East Topeka to Lecompton exits, widening project under way.

The road widening project along U.S. Highway 40, otherwise known as Sixth Street, will continue with access to Sixth Street only restricted from George Williams Way, Fence Line and Queens roads.

Access ramps between Interstate Highway 635 and Leavenworth Road are closed due to construction.

Interstate 35 at 87th Street, several ramps closed due to bridge construction. Commuters should use 95th Street if travelling north on Interstate 35 or 75th Street if travelling south.

The following ongoing construction projects may affect city traffic this week:

Finishing work will be underway along Sixth Street near the intersection of Wakarusa Drive.

Monterey Way, between Stetson Drive and Grand Vista, as well as Peterson Road west of Kasold Drive, will be closed to through traffic for road improvements.

Sixth and Indiana streets due to sewer construction. Construction will affect Fifth and Sixth streets, along Mississippi and Indiana streets.

Parking removed along Vermont Street south of 23rd Street for the installation of a new waterline. Parking will be restricted.

Possible delays on Iowa Street due to private storm sewer improvements and milling between 33rd and 34th streets.
