Bottom line

City commissioners will receive a report from the Old West Lawrence Task Force regarding possible rezoning of property in the neighborhood.

Background

The task force has been studying the neighborhood as part of an area planning process. The group has been identifying property that currently isn’t properly zoned for the use that it has. In total, 16 pieces of property are proposed for rezoning. Many of them are single family homes that are located on property zoned for duplexes. The neighborhood is seeking the land to be zoned to single family status.

adopt the following on first reading:

a.) an ordinance to rezone 2.999 acres from A-1 Suburban Home to RS-1 Single Family. The property is located southeast of Lake Estates Subdivision between East 920 Road and Lake Alvamar.

b.) an ordinance to rezone 2.09 acres from A-1 to RS-1. The property is located southeast of Lake Estates Subdivision between East 920 Road and Lake Alvamar.

c.) an ordinance to rezone 7.49 acres from A-1 to RS-2 Single Family. The property is located southeast of Lake Estates Subdivision between East 920 Road and Lake Alvamar.

d.) an ordinance to rezone .99 acre from M-1 Research Industrial to RO-2 Residential-Office. The property is located between East 19th Street and Homewood Streets, east of Bullene Avenue.

adopt a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute special warranty deed for the Martin-Logan property, 2001 Del., and the retirement of the 1999 Industrial Revenue Bond in the amount of $1.055 million.

adopt a resolution authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds of $300,000 for traffic signal renovations.

approve unanimous recommendation from Traffic Safety Commission and approve ordinance on first reading to establish no parking from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school days along both sides of Madeline Lane between Ninth Street and Yale Road.

approve the following:

a.) site plan for site improvements to a commercial building at 201-29 W. Eighth St.

b.) site plan for Polk Spec Building, a 4,800-square-foot office/storage building at 1150 E. 11th St.

authorize the city’s surplus and unfound property auction for Oct. 1 at the Traffic Division Garage at Fifth and Mississippi streets.

receive city manager’s report.
