Douglas County commissioners Wednesday unanimously approved the installation of a temporary turnaround along East 920 Road near Clinton Parkway and the northeast portion of Kansas Highway 10.

The turnaround will be constructed about 30 feet before East 920 Road ends.

Some property owners along East 920 Road requested the turnaround. They were concerned drivers would use the road to connect to a potential residential development southeast of their rural neighborhood.

Commissioners also approved a request from the Public Works Department to waive county policy and move forward with securing the Topeka-based engineering firm Finney & Turnipseed for work on the Lecompton Bridge.
