Motorist sentenced in hit-and-run crash

? A motorist who struck and killed a woman, then took a child to school and went to work has been sentenced to six months in jail.

Neal Nutter, 49, of Topeka, was driving in rain in October when he hit 81-year-old Josephine Pierce at an unmarked intersection.

Shawnee County District Court Judge Matt Dowd ordered the sentence Wednesday after Nutter pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death, failure to render aid after an accident and failing to report an accident.
