Girl loses peafowl intended as 4-H entries
An 11-year-old Douglas County girl needs help finding some missing peafowl.
B.J. Simpson’s peacock and peahen flew off about two weeks ago when her mother, Carolyn, attempted to shoo them into a pen one evening at their home, located near U.S. Highway 40 and East 500 Road.
The peafowl couldn’t be persuaded to budge. They were last seen about a week ago.
The peacock has a blue neck and the peahen is an off-white color. If spotted, the peafowl can be lured with brightly colored fruit, such as grapes and watermelon, into a pen or cage.
B.J. Simpson said she intended to show the peafowl at the Douglas County/4-H Fair.
“I really hope I get them back,” she said.
The family can be reached at 887-6717.
