Be prepared

To the editor:

Of all the people I have heard placing blame on the way the hurricane disaster was handled, not one had even donated a can of beans to help the people in the Gulf area. I would love to hear them say they had donated a few dollars to help the unlucky folks who have had to bear so much bad and stop trying to place the blame. What good does that do?

I do believe every area where a disaster is possible should have a plan, someone in charge of seeing the plan was up to date and ready when needed, someone reliable, always in charge and knowing what to do. Would that be so impossible?

Kevin has only one focus in his meaningless existance. He is determined to defend Bush at all costs and prove Bill is responsible for all bad things since time began. He still doesn't understand Bill hasn't been president for almost 5 years. At some point the shrub will have to take some responsibility for his incompetence.

Arminius:

Get off the Clinton wagon, he isn't president anymore. Will you ever shut up? Good lord man, you are obsessed. Maybe Rush can get you a prescription for that problem.

The Department of Hoemland Security with FEMA as part of it actually was proposed by the Hart-Rudman Commission, which released its recommendations in January 2001. Democrats such as Joe Lieberman began pushing for its creation after 9/11. Lieberman, Clinton, and most Democrats voted to establish the new department.

BTW, many have compared the rebuilding of New Orleans to the rebuilding of Chicago after the Great Fire. Did you know that more than 700 Chicagoans died in a heat wave during July 1995, which is more than died during the Great Fire? Where was FEMA then? Where was Bill Clinton? They did nothing to help those threatening by the heat wave, even though it was predicted.

Clinton did, however, have time to sign an executive order concerning FOREIGN disaster assistance. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2889/is_n29_v31/ai_17388515

We thought we had a plan spearheaded by the creation of Home Land Security and President George W. Bush. He is just as much a failure as the plan and the department. There is where the blame should be.
