Raises deserved
To the editor:
I am a retired teacher who taught in USD 497 for 11 years. I find it very difficult to understand how the Lawrence school board can justify a 5 to 6 percent raise to administrators and then offer the teachers far less. They may say that it comes from a different pot and there is not enough in the teachers’ pot for a similar raise. Who is it that fills up these different pots each year, and why can’t plans be made to give teachers yearly raises they so richly deserve?
