Legal assistance

Legalize auto theft?

If I were governor of Kansas, I would pass into law the following:

¢ All towing companies and drivers would be bonded, insured and licensed yearly, to assure top quality job performance.

¢ No towing would be permitted without the presence of owner and/or a police officer to authorize towing of vehicle.

¢ The police officer authorizing towing of a vehicle must notify the owner and the owner’s insurance company of the tow with a valid explanation of why it was necessary. Provide name of towing company with address, phone number, driver’s name, destination of vehicle and condition of vehicle.

¢ Tow companies would be held accountable for any and all damage to vehicles once they take possession of the vehicle. This would include damage during hook-up, damage in transit, damage in disconnecting and damage on impound lot.

¢ Any unauthorized towing would be classified as a felony, grand theft auto. Criminal charges would be brought against the company and driver.

My husband and I are seeking legal assistance with case number 02-05-1719 and case number 02-05-2079 with the Lawrence Police Department.
