Player priorities
To the editor:
Over the years, Kansas University had paid at least lip service to the concept of “student athletes” and has been quick to boast when people like Nick Collison and Wayne Simien get their degrees. Yet along comes Brandon Rush who enrolls, but decides not to bother attending any actual classes until (and unless, presumably) he is allowed to play basketball. Rush at least has been honest and upfront about this and has indicated more than once that the only reason he would attend college would be to play basketball. I don’t fault Rush, but I question the silence and the implied approval of the KU coaches and administration.
