Commissioners field Kasold comments

Lawrence City commissioners Wednesday night spent a little more than an hour listening to public comments concerning plans to rebuild a section of Kasold Drive.

More than 30 residents from the Kasold Drive area between Bob Billings Parkway and 22nd Street expressed concern primarily about the size of a retaining wall and bike/sidewalk pathway included in reconstruction options being considered.

The reconstruction plan currently is estimated to cost $3.7 million and take 15 months.

Commissioners took no action on the proposal. It will be placed on the commission’s regular meeting agenda in the near future, Mayor Boog Highberger said.
