Overland Park ? Eric Slan, Mitchell Morrow and David Green each scored goals, helping Free State High’s soccer squad beat Shawnee Mission South, 4-1, Tuesday at Shawnee Mission Athletic Complex.

Andrew Heck and Slan added assists for the Firebirds (1-0), who gained the final margin on a SM South own goal.

Free State coach Jason Pendleton cited Brian Bracciano, David Turvey, Aaron Ideus and John Sneegas for defense, and K.J. Siebert at midfield.

The Firebirds will play Lawrence High at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Youth Sports Inc. fields.
