Gardner man identified in fatality accident
The Kansas Highway Patrol Sunday released the identity of a man who was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident in Jefferson County.
Brady R. Callaway, 27, Gardner, was the driver of the motorcycle that went out of control on a curve on Kansas Highway 16 near McLouth. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the patrol report.
A passenger on the motorcycle, Sandra R. Qualls, 18, also of Gardner, was injured. She also was not wearing a helmet. She was taken to University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. Her condition was unavailable Sunday.
The motorcycle was eastbound on the highway about 1:30 p.m. and was going too fast to make the curve, the patrol report said. The cycle went down on one side and it was struck by a westbound 2003 Honda sport utility vehicle.
The driver of the Honda, Myra J. Harwood, 42, McLouth, suffered possible minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital. Other passengers in the vehicle did not require medical attention.
