Oil profiteers

To the editor:

I can imagine the oil company execs right now. They’re rubbing their hands together, counting the potential profits, which are already the highest in history. The national media is playing into their hands – inciting panic, warning of the soon-to-be-increased price of gas at the pumps and the dire straits of the poor oil companies. What a crock. If you believe this stuff, you deserve $3-plus gas. Oil companies have been praying for just such a confluence of circumstances since the ’70s.

In times of crisis and catastrophe, it is usually considered illegal, if not just deplorable, to profiteer. Why do the oil companies get a pass? Where is their sacrifice? Where is their patriotism? What am I thinking? I know the answer. Who owns our president, his cabinet and most of Congress? I’ll give you three guesses.
