ICAN Friendly Visitors program is looking for individuals to volunteer one or two hours each week to assist older people who live independently. Volunteers are needed to assist with grocery shopping, make friendly visits and phone calls, assist with errands or household needs.

Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Lawrence Memorial Hospital seeks volunteers for a variety of positions. Volunteers to assist patients at LMH South Outpatient Services and volunteers to staff the LMH Auxiliary Gift Shop are needed most. Volunteers are requested to make a three- to six-month commitment to volunteer three to four hours per week providing quality service to patients, visitors and fellow volunteers. Interested individuals may contact the Volunteer Office at LMH by phone at 840-3141, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

¢ Lawrence Habitat ReStore is looking for volunteers with any of the following experience categories: hardware, construction, remodeling, retail, cashiering, customer service, janitorial or heavy lifting. Volunteers will assist with the general operation of a building-supply thrift store. Interested volunteers may contact K.H., manager of the ReStore, at 832-0777.

¢ The Lawrence Public Schools and the Boys and Girls Club seek volunteers to work with youth ages 6 to 12 in after-school programs at several sites throughout Lawrence. Available volunteer opportunities include one-on-one tutoring or working with small groups on specific tasks and projects. Volunteers are needed after school hours from 3:00-5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – and on Wednesdays from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Volunteers must be available to work one or more days a week and should enjoy working with school age youth. ¢ Health Care Access needs volunteers to assist with several upcoming events, including the Seven-on-Seven Football Benefit event on Nov. 12 and the Health Care Access Clinic Holiday Homes Tour on Dec. 4. Volunteers are needed to assist with pre-event promotional activities, site setup and decoration, and event staffing.
