Kansas Public Radio drive exceeds goal

Kansas Public Radio’s Fall Fanfare membership drive has exceeded its goal and set a record for money raised through on-air appeals for pledges to support the Kansas University station, according to a news release.

KPR raised more than $213,000 during the weeklong campaign that began Oct. 14 with a goal of $210,000. The money raised included more than $125,000 through on-air appeals to new and renewing members. The rest was raised through a direct-mail campaign.

All funds raised during spring and fall membership drives directly support programming services.

The station gained 308 new members, and 1,373 listeners renewed their memberships. An additional $19,000 was raised through challenge grants, in which a company or individual will donate money if KPR can raise a certain level of funding during a show.
