Bankruptcies

No Douglas County residents or businesses have filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Kansas, since new federal bankruptcy rules took effect Oct. 17, according to court records.

Since the deadline arrived, there have been 51 cases filed statewide through today, according to the court’s Web site.

By contrast, there were 551 cases filed statewide on Sunday, Oct. 16, the day before the new rules took effect. Of those cases filed on that single day, 41 involved filings from Douglas County.
