Lawrence commuter report

The following construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:

Interstate 70, from the East Topeka to Lecompton exits, widening project under way. Lecompton Township Road East 100 near the Kansas Turnpike will be closed due to this construction as well.

The bridge carrying U.S. Highway 40 as it crosses over Kansas Highway 10 is being widened to four lanes. Construction will affect Sixth Street, beginning at Folks Road, and continue past Kansas Highway 10.

Wellman Road in Jefferson County north of Midland is closed for road construction.

Kansas Highway 32 at Stranger Creek Traffic will be reduced to one lane with traffic controlled through signals.

Interstate 635 at Parallel Parkway, all ramps closed for construction. Use exits at U.S. Highway 24 or 38th Street.

Southbound Interstate 635 will be reduced to two lanes between Georgia Avenue and 43rd Street.

Interstate 35 at 87th Street, ramps closed for construction. Use 75th and 95th Streets to Quivira.

Interstate 35 between Gardner and 75th Street for night construction; expect delays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m..

Portion of County Road 458, south of Lawrence, closed for road improvements.

The following projects may affect city traffic this week:

West Sixth Street from Folks Road to Wakarusa Drive, traffic reduced to one lane each direction for road-widening project. Traffic on Wakarusa Drive south of Sixth Street will be reduced to one lane for a short distance.

Monterey Way, north of Stetson Drive to Peterson Road, as well as Peterson Road west and east of Monterey Way, will be closed to through traffic for road improvements.

Almira, between 12th and 13th streets, will have some parking removed for waterline repair.

Construction at the intersection of 33rd and Iowa streets.
