Freezing temperatures on way tonight

Weather forecasters predict freezing temperatures tonight for the Lawrence area and northeastern Kansas.

On Saturday, the National Weather Service in Topeka issued a freeze watch, which will be in effect tonight through Monday morning. A high-pressure system with cold Canadian air will settle into the area, and clear skies and light winds could produce “some of the coldest weather of the season,” according to a statement from the National Weather Service.

Low temperatures could be in the mid- to upper 20s in northeast Kansas. Crop damage is possible, and the National Weather Service advised harvesting or protecting any agricultural products.
