Name corrected

To the editor:

We were pleased to be included in Monday’s (Page 1B) article about the peace pole dedication in Veterans Park this coming Sunday. And, we are proud to be among the first six locations in Lawrence to have a peace pole!

However, we need to correct our name as we are not the Unitarian Christian Fellowship. Although Unitarians can trace their roots back to the first century of the Common Era, as the centuries passed we incorporated ever more of the wisdom from religions and philosophies other than Christianity and Judaism. And, in 1961, the Unitarians merged with the liberal Protestant Universalists. So, today we are the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, and we are a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations.

We hope to see many of your readers joining us when the peace pole in Veterans Park is dedicated at 4 p.m., in honor of Allan and Louise Hanson, in recognition of their valuable service to the community as peace activists and long-term leaders of the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice.

Graham Kreicker, chair,
