City seeks input on proposed sewer plant

Area residents soon will have a chance to tell city leaders what they think about a proposed $80 million sewer treatment plant to be built somewhere along the Wakarusa River.

The city will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 at South Junior High School, 2734 La.

The city’s wastewater planners have said a new sewer treatment plant is needed by 2011 in order for the city to keep up with future growth demands. City officials currently are looking for property for the plant.

The Nov. 3 meeting will be the first of three informational meetings during the next 18 months. Dates for the other meetings haven’t been set.
