Impartial trial

To the editor:

I want to call into question the articles being written about Jason Rose. The crime Mr. Rose is being accused of committing is terrible, and my condolences go out to all the victims of the fire, but let’s not forget about the ideas this country was founded on. Mr. Rose is entitled to a fair and impartial trial, and it is next to impossible to get one if the local newspaper keeps printing headlines like “Suspect may have history with fire.”

Furthermore, I don’t think it is any of the general public’s business what the defendant’s juvenile record contains. I understand the business of the newspaper and the life of being a journalist, but there is no need in tainting a jury pool.
