Boardwalk fire will cost city in overtime
City Manager Mike Wildgen said that a preliminary tally shows the city will pay an additional $32,000 in wages to Lawrence firefighters as result of the overtime required to respond to the deadly Boardwalk Apartments fire.
Wildgen said the $32,000 total did not include other city expenses related to other departments, like having the Police Department called in to do extra work related to the fire.
