Authorities were responding to a report late this morning of a man being injured in an accident southeast of Lawrence on Douglas County Road 458 near Sibleyville.

An ambulance helicopter had been called to the scene, said Lt. Kari Wempe, of the Douglas County Sheriff’s department.

Wempe said an asphalt truck overturned and injured the driver, who will be transported by air ambulance to a Kansas City-area hospital.

The accident was called in about 10:45 a.m. on 458, near the intersection with Douglas County Route 1700E.

Officers were still at the scene gathering information late this morning.
