Are flags next?

To the editor:

I see that our city fathers have paused momentarily from turning the streets of Lawrence into a maze of roundabouts (at great expense to the taxpayers) to protect us against the danger to the public of car dealers flying balloons on their private property.

How much of a stretch is it to expect them to next tell us that we cannot fly the American flag from our cars? I think that would be an interesting First Amendment case for our new Supreme Court.

Flying flags from your car? What are you, the President or something?

The balloons according to the city commission will undoubtedly stay...need to get your facts straight.

The greater majority of roundabouts are requested by citizens for specific areas and have been sanctioned by DOT's around the world. All that is required is slowing down, the objective, and learning.

The more flags you fly...does that mean more patriotic? Is that the proper way to display a flag? Do car flags go up at sunrise and pulled off at sunset?
