TECUMSEH ? Free State High’s volleyball squad was 1-2 at a quad Tuesday at Shawnee Heights.

The Firebirds lost to Shawnee Heights 20-25, 20-25, and to St. Teresa’s Academy 9-25, 12-25, but beat Shawnee Mission Northwest 25-13, 25-20.

Aubrey Morris had 20 digs, Kelley Jewell added 14 blocks and 11 kills, and Kristen Karlin had 10 kills for Free State (15-12).

“The first two matches we came out pretty flat … just didn’t execute very well,” Free State coach Nancy Hopkins said.

“The last match, we finally figured out what we were doing wrong.”
