The Independent Traveler includes Lawrence among its six favorite college towns in a listing released Monday.

The online travel guide, at www.independenttraveler.com, placed Lawrence on a list with Athens, Ga., Berkeley, Calif., Boulder, Colo., Madison, Wis., and Princeton, N.J.

“Lawrence enjoys a riverfront location and a downtown core that harks back to a time gone by,” the site said.
