Women Build project to begin this month

Women with Lawrence Habitat for Humanity will begin work on a new home for a family this month as part of the Women Build project.

A house for Anna Todd’s family will be the women’s third area project. The group will host a kickoff event called Breakfast with Anna at 9 a.m. Saturday at the building site on Homewood Street in East Lawrence. Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger will be the keynote speaker.

Construction is expected to begin Oct. 29. The group has raised $25,000 so far and needs to raise $52,500 for the project, said Jean Lilley, executive director of Lawrence Habitat.
