KDHE lifts boil order after repairs, samples

Residents who live west of Stranger Creek in Jefferson and Leavenworth counties no longer need to boil their water.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced Friday that it lifted its boil water advisory for Jefferson County Rural Water District No. 12. Officials issued the advisory Tuesday after the heavy flooding in the area.

After repairs and samples, there is no evidence of bacteria in the system, said KDHE spokeswoman Sharon Watson.

The advisory never affected residents east of Stranger Creek because they were on a separate water system.
