Entertaining call

To the editor:

Few cell phone conversations are so important they cannot be delayed until parked. None are so important as to cause an accident.

Cell phone conversations can occasionally be fascinating to their “captive audiences.”

Recently, while in line to board a plane to Sacramento, about 20 passengers listened to a young lady’s 20-minute conversation with a friend. She was telling about why she was on her way home from college in Germany after only three weeks into the semester, saying she’d been caught smoking pot in her dorm and expelled. There were lots more interesting details. She seemed more concerned about reviving her social life in California than explaining this expensive “smoke” to her parents, although this WAS becoming more of a serious issue, the closer she got to home.

Wish all the conversations I’ve overheard were that memorable!
