A Lawrence operation that maps out, designs and engineers construction projects throughout the region is about to pick up an award for its fast-growing efforts.

BG Consultants Inc., with an office at 1405 Wakarusa Drive (above), will receive the first Foundation Award from the city of Lawrence and Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.

The new awards program is designed to recognize local companies that have achieved substantial job growth, said Heather Ackerly, the chamber’s director of business retention and attraction programs. BG Consultants’ payroll has grown by 20 percent during the past year.

The award will be presented during Tuesday’s Lawrence City Commission meeting, set to begin at 6:35 p.m. at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets.
