Garage-shed combo destroyed by fire
A combination garage and shed was destroyed by fire late Saturday night at 735 N. Fifth St.
The first Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical firefighters on the scene found the garage fully engulfed in flames and threatening to spread to a house.
The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, Division Chief Bill Stark said.
Preliminary damage estimates, including the structure and contents, were listed at $15,500. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
