City manager: Field narrowed for new hires
City Manager Mike Wildgen said the city is on track to hire both a new fire chief and a new utility director in late October or early November.
Wildgen said he’s narrowed the field of candidates for fire chief to seven individuals and likely will narrow the field slightly more before bringing the candidates in for interviews.
The field of candidates for the utility director has been narrowed to fewer than five and interviews are expected to begin soon. About 30 people applied for the utility position and about 20 people applied for the fire chief job.
The city is seeking to fill the positions after Roger Coffey, utility director, and Fire Chief Jim McSwain both retired last month.
