Landlords sought for rental program

A new program designed to help homeless people gain permanent housing is looking for residents and landlords willing to participate.

Housing Credit Counseling Inc. is conducting its second round of qualifying classes this week for its Homeless to Housing program, or H2H. The classes are from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today and Thursday at the United Way Center, 2518 Ridge Court.

The classes cover advice on budgeting, housekeeping, resume writing and job seeking, and rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords. Participating landlords receive one month of rent paid through the program, and assurance that the program will cover any potential damages or costs related to an eviction.

For more information about program eligibility or ways to participate as a landlord, contact Tammy Kahle, of HCCI, at 749-4224, ext. 322, or project manager Vivian Baars, of the Salvation Army, at 843-4188.
